Crystal Microdermabrasion

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a Multi Award Winning, chemical free, skin rejuvenating treatment, that requires zero recovery time.

Who is it for?

With so many benefits to the skin, microdermabrasion is great for anyone! Microdermabrasion improves the overall appearance of the skin, giving it a healthy glow and youthful appearance. Suitable for all skin types and tones - including sensitive skin.

How often can i have the treatment?

Treatments should ideally be carried out every 10-14 days. This ensures the microderm exfoliation reaches deeper layers of skin and allows acne scarring to be reduced, pigmentation to be lifted and fine lines smoothed. Microdermabrasion is a progressive not aggressive treatment, so skin layers are gently removed over a course of treatments carried out at regular intervals.

How many sessions will i need?

This will vary on the skins condition. Microdermabrasion is a fantastic one off exfoliation treatment but it is also award winning for treating problematic skin issues. Treatment for skin problems requires 5-20  treatments depending on their extent and the skin concern to be treated. A full consultation and recommended treatment plan based on personal needs will be required.

Is it painful?

Microdermabrasion is not at all painful, infact most people find it relaxing. You will feel the suction on the face and the sensation of the crystals on the skin but it is not remotely uncomfortable.

How long will the results last?

Results achieved can be maintained by following a daily skin care routine - including protecting the skin from UV rays, maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle alongside regular maintenance treatments. Maintainance treatments are every 4 - 6 weeks.

What skin problems can be treated?

Acne and acne scarring/

congestion and blemishes

Microdermabrasion works by removing the top layer of the skin from the skins surface, removing dead skin cells, unclogging pores and minimising sebum (oil) production - drastically reducing the chance of spots developing. Hormonal breakouts, blemishes and congested skin alongside acne and acne scarring all benefit from a course of microdermbrasion treatments.

Fine lines and wrinkles (ageing skin)

As we age elastin and collagen production starts to slow down. The vacuum action of the microdermabrasion treatment works to stimulate blood flow, prompting elastin and collagen production. The combination of collagen stimulation and increased skin renewal improves the condition of the skin surface, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

Dull and tired skin/ dry and dehydrated skin

Normally skin renews itself approximately every 28 days, by removing the dead skin cells from the top layer of the epidermis. Microdermabrasion speeds up the rate at which the skin replenishes to reveal new fresh skin, with an instant visible glow.

Pigmentation/ uneven skin tone and stretch marks

Microdermabrasion vastly improves the appearance of pigmentation, uneven skin tone and stretch marks. The treatment promotes a 'lifting and smoothing' effect; improving skin condition, diminishing the appearance of stretch marks and discolouration.

Cellulite 'orange peel effect'

Microdermabrasion can't cure cellulite however it will stimulate the circulation, improving blood flow to the area. To improve the appearance of cellulite make sure you exercise regularly and drink plenty of water.

Shaving rash/ ingrowing hairs and blackheads

Microdermabrasion treats ingrowing hairs, shaving rash and blackheads. During the treatment the aluminium oxide crystals are blasted onto the skin delivering an intense exfoliation, dislodging trapped hair follicles and resurfacing the skin.

Dermaplaning is a procedure in which the skin is manually exfoliated to remove dead skin buildup and fine hairs (peach fuzz).

Dermaplaning uses a sharp surgical blade to gently scrape the outer layer of the skin which consists of dull, dead skin cells. The exfoliation and hair removal can leave your skin brighter and smoother. The treatment may soften fine lines and wrinkles and ease hyperpigmentation, or uneven skin tone. It’s also used to treat deep acne scars.
